Here are some ideas for how you can help your aging loved one have a happy new year and beyond!
Be an exercise buddy – Studies show that exercise is a great way to relieve stress and to feel refreshed again! Be an exercise buddy to your elderly loved one to make sure they take care of themselves! Remember to always consult a physician before starting an exercise routine.
Help with home safety – Take a walk around your elderly loved one’s home and check for loose rugs or carpets, clutter, and expired food. If you don’t live nearby, give us a call and we will do it for free as part of our in-home assessment.
Research community activities – It’s so important to keep your loved ones active in the community. Find a local community center or library and ask for their schedule. You will both enjoy learning new things such as art or pottery!
Establish a weekly ritual – Once a week, plan a fun activity with your aging loved one.
Accompany them to church, a movie, or to a local coffee shop. When seniors are social, they have a re-energized spirit.
